There’s no doubt that it’s summer in Mississippi. It’s dangerously hot for some people and not a time when you want to find out that the air-conditioning has gone out.

For AC repair crews, this is when their phones are ringing constantly. Ryan Donald, with Southern Air, said as the heat cranks up and those AC units try to keep pace, they start giving out. He said there are a few things you can do now that will help.

“Getting somebody in, letting somebody check the system, keeping it clean,” Donald said. “It’s called preventative maintenance. That is the only thing you can do to try and stay ahead of the game.”

And staying ahead in this heat is no small feat. Donald had six to eight stops on the schedule Tuesday, and the pace is likely to continue as the temperatures keep climbing.
