The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a theft that impacted PennDOT’s ability to monitor traffic in the area.

Authorities reported this week that an suspect forcibly entered an electrical box attached to a PennDOT pole with traffic cameras along I-295 in Bristol Township and stole an electrical fuse.

State police said they have gathered a few leads in the case and continued their investigation as of this week.

The investigation has led troopers to say that they believe the theft occurred on January 22 at approximately 2:25 p.m.

According to troopers, the stolen fuse was valued at $100.

The cameras are fed to PennDOT’s regional operations center in Montgomery County. The cameras provide live feeds that not only assist in traffic management but are also frequently used in television news traffic reports.
